Clara is 2! I can't believe it has been that long since this sweet little girl became a part of our family, but at the same time, and I know this is pretty cliche (but totally the truth), I can't even remember what it was like for her to not be a part of our family- I swear she's just always been here.
She is the cutest, sweetest, most affectionate little girl-- and I just want to bottle her up and keep her... but since I can't do that, and also because I DO want her to grow out of the terrible twos at some point... I'll just settle for writing down all the things I want to remember about my sweet little 2 year old.
She is SUCH a girl. Pink, and more pink, and princesses, people. And dress up. Princess dresses especially. It's so strange for me to have a girly girl, since I'm just not... but I love that she is her own little person.
She is SUCH a little mama. Babies and more babies. Except she calls them 'bies. Instead of saying "babes" for short, she calls them "bies", or just "bee" for one baby. She CAN say baby, and knows the word, but prefers her own way of saying it. I kinda do, too. It's adorable. Especially because Clara has a lisp, and there is an extra emphasis to the "S" sound at the end, so it sounds more like geese, but with a "B." Beese.
As I mentioned, Clara has a bit of a lisp.. and she hasn't quite got the English language down very well. I mean, she understands everything we say, and she knows enough words to communicate pretty well, but she will still try to have full out conversations with everyone and anyone in her own little language first. It's actually pretty fun to listen to. I'll miss it when she doesn't use it anymore. Haha. All that being said, girlfriend knows how to get her point across. I really should've taught her sign language... I'm certain she would've taken off running with that, because she's really good at gesturing to communicate what she wants if she doesn't have the words she needs.
Clara's hugs are THE BEST! She's so affectionate and loving and gives kisses and hugs pretty readily unless it means you are leaving or she's going to bed... then she kind of sulks a little bit and won't. Haha! She's always been a snuggly child, though. And I love it. I was worried she would grow out of it, but she still loves to snuggle and be held and hold my hand.
When Brian leaves for work, he always says, "I love you." And then I always reply, "I love you, too"... and then one day, Clara started chiming in "Too!"... and now if Brian or I say "I Love you", to Clara, she says "Too!" back. Melts this Mama's heart every time.
Clara calls all kids "guys". She started calling her cousins guys because that's what their parents always called them, "Come on, guys, let's go... let's clean up... etc." So funny that she picked that up! Haha! And now all kids in pictures or on TV or at church or at the park are all "guys"... and keep in mind her lisp and added emphasis on the "S" sound. It's cuter. Haha!
Clara recently learned the word "food" and now takes advantage and asks for it all day long. It's so satisfying to her to be able to ask for something she wants and actually have us understand and respond... and I think she takes advantage sometimes... but it's cute, so, oh well. Haha!
Clara is pretty clumsy... she's gotten better, but she still makes me nervous when she tries to be like the big kids and tries to climb, jump, etc.... She's constantly tripping or falling or stumbling in some form or another... haha! Poor girl... she's just not very graceful. She is pretty tough, though. I'll give her that. And she doesn't seem to be deterred by her falls-- she has no fear!... not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing... if it's she just doesn't learn from her mistakes, or she's just not willing to let her mistakes get in the way of her getting better... haha.. Either way, she's pretty much always sporting several bruises in various stages of color and healing. Hahaha! Miraculously, we haven't had any serious injuries, though. To my surprise, really. This girl keeps her guardian angels busy! Haha!
Clara LOVES to dance. Loves it. And preferably WITH someone. If there's music and another person in the room, you better believe she's gonna come grab your hands and try to get you to dance with her.
Clara likes to make Brian and I kiss. Haha! If we are next to each other she will push our heads together until we kiss. It's adorable. Also, Clara loves to hug both me and and her daddy at the same time. Family hugs are a daily occurrence, and I love it.
I absolutely LOVE watching her play with her toys. She has such an AMAZING imagination. I love watching her get into her own little world and chat away in her own little language (with a little English thrown in there every once in awhile, haha). And I love when she invites me into that little world and brings one of her little people princesses to me to play with so that I can join in on the fun.
Clara is SO social! She's generally not shy at all and is outgoing and quite extroverted. She's not afraid of people she's never met (which makes me nervous), and will go right up to them to say "hi" and introduce herself and make friends right away. I'm totally an introvert, and this has led to some uncomfortable moments for me at the playground. Haha! She's just loves everyone, unconditionally, right away! She's just so loving!
Clara HATES being left out of things. If someone else is doing something, she needs to be doing it too. Especially when food is involved. If someone is eating, she needs to be eating, too. Even if she just finished eating a huge meal. Every time.
Clara LOVES cows. It MIGHT have something to do with the cows at her Grandpa's house, but she's pretty obsessed. I think it's adorable. And she says cow with a "T" instead of "C". And loves to say "Hi, Tows!" to all the cows in all of her picture books. Haha!
Clara LOVES her daddy. I love the relationship they have! I love watching Clara run with her little short legs as fast as she can to her dad when he gets home from work! I love watching them dance and play together! He Loves her so much!
I know I'm probably leaving stuff out, but this will have to do. I just love her so so so much! I'm so glad she's my daughter and that I get to be her Mama!
Happy birthday, sweet girl!

Oh, my sweet Clara girl! Grandma loves you so much! You have brought such joy to my life. I'm so happy to be your grandma! Happy 2nd year to you. You've grown so much this past year. You are such a cutie, taking after your mama at your age.
